Born and raised in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, LOOKATUPS (Aphelele Klimbashe) is a rapper rewriting the rules of South African hip-hop. Fusing his Xhosa mother tongue with trap and Afro-pop, his sound is raw, honest, and undeniably his own.
From his debut single Gibela in 2017 to being named Apple Music Up Next South Africa in October 2023, Lookatups has performed at CottonFest, Capsule Fest, the Ivyson Tour, and Sneaker Exchange. His music speaks for those who were told to look down.
